Geyser Claims

We have received notification from Santam Specialist Real Estate advising they have revised their geyser Information and limits.

All geyser claims are facilitated by Santam SOS and can be contacted on 086 010 1305.

Santam confirmed :

  • As per SANS regulation, a 300L geyser cannot be installed on a roof if there is no Engineers Certificate confirming that the roof is able to carry the weight of the geyser.
  • SANS 10254 requires that on completion of a geyser installation, maintenance, or replacement of components, a Certificate of Compliance (COC) from a certified plumber must be issued – in terms of any non-compliances.
  • The following will be required to process a geyser replacement claim (prior to settlement advises from Santam):
    • Signed Certificate of compliance
    • A detailed invoice of work completed
    • Before and after pictures of the damages and repairs thereof including pictures of the old and new geyser tags will also be required.
    • Before and After photos will need to be provided by the contracted supplier in respect of all work carried out for building repairs, carpets, and geysers. These must be submitted with the Contractor’s final invoice.

Please note that in the instances where you make use of your own plumber without authorisation from Santam, the settlement will be based on a fair and reasonable market value.

At Manor Gardens all geyser replacements must be authorised by Santam and certified by professional Plumber.

Due to the recent increase in the geyser and plumbing related supplies, Santam has reviewed their geyser limits.

Please note the updated geyser limits as follows:

50L       R11 494.25

100L     R11 609.25

150L     R11 681.70

200L     R14 533.70

250L     R21 579.75

Santam has advised that a geyser that becomes faulty within the manufacturer’s warranty period does not constitute as a claim in terms of the policy.

Such matters must be reported to the manufacturers for assistance, the claim can be lodged with the Insurer who can assist in logging the matter with the manufacturer.

Santam also urges clients not to proceed with repairs or replacements prior to reporting the claim as only certain costs are covered by the terms and conditions of the manufacturer’s warranty.

In the event of the replacement of components (Geyser repair) a Certificate of compliance from a professional body for plumbers is required.

Installation of Solar Geysers is prohibited at Manor Gardens.
